Pilsner (also pilsener or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the then city of Pilsen (Plzeň), Bohemia, in today's Czech Republic, where a bottom-fermented beer was first produced in 1842.[1] The original Pilsner Urquell beer is produced there today.
However Pils and Pilsner is produced on many Human Terran Worlds including (Czech Planet, Pivo, Lordoz, Lotz, Bitburg, Planet Holstein and others.)
A modern pilsner has a very light, clear colour from pale to golden yellow and a distinct hop aroma and flavor. The alcohol strength is typically around 4.5%-5% by volume.
German-style Pilsner has a light straw to golden color with more bitter or earthy taste. Czech-style Pilsner is golden, full of colors, with high foaminess and lighter flavor. A European-style Pilsner has a slightly sweet taste, can be produced from other than barley malt.
Holstein Pilsner is a German-style pilsner.
