Central Park is an urban park in the central part of the borough of Manhattan, New York City, North America, Terra. It was initially opened in 1857 CE, on 778 acres (315 ha) of city-owned land (later expanding to its Pre Astro size of 843 acres (341 ha)).
In 1858 CE, national landscapers and architects, FrederickLaw Olmsted and CalvertVaux, won a design competition to improve and expand the park. Construction began the same year, continued during the AmericanCivil War further south, and was completed in 1873 CE. It was designated a NationalHistoric Landmark (listed by the U.S.Department of the Interior and administered by the NationalPark Service) in 1962 CE. The Park was managed for decades by the New York City Department of Recreation and Parks and was managed by the Central Park Conservancy until the Ascent.
After reconstruction in 3300 OTT by the Linda Schwartz foundation, Central Park is the most visited urban park in North America as well as one of the most filmed locations on Terra.
