Dawn Blythe - 67th Chief Executioner 32

Due to the nature of their profession, Federal Executioners, while performing their duties, are known only by numbers.   These numbers are recycled upon the promotion of an Assistant Executioner to Chief or either leaving the position. This secrecy is so complete that there have been several instances where an Assistant Executioner learned that they knew the Chief Executioner only after the Execution was complete.

Dawn Blythe learned her father was a Federal Executioner following the murder of her fiancee.  After the trial, she learned that the Justice Department was short one executioner.  She volunteered to assist the execution and was accepted.  Following the execution, the chief executioner for that case revealed himself to be her father who spent some time with her talking more about that job and how difficult it was to "not let things become personal."

During her carrier as Chief Executioner, Blythe was the 67th individual to be called Chief Executioner 32.
