Kalimun‏‎

known to Union Science as Iron(II) sulfate (Br.E. iron(II) sulphate) or ferrous sulfate is the chemical compound with the formula FeSO4. It is used medically to treat iron deficiency, and also for industrial applications. Known since ancient times as copperas and as green vitriol, the blue-green heptahydrate is the most common form of this material. All iron sulfates dissolve in water to give the same aquo complex [Fe(H2O)6]2+, which has octahedral molecular geometry and is paramagnetic.

Kalium is the relative rare Hydrate :  FeSO4·H2O (mineral: szomolnokite, relatively rare)

The crystals when super pressure compacted  are used by many TL 7 societies due to its paramagnetic properties in Quasi space slip drive devices.

No Union QSSD (ISAH Drives ) use Kalimun crystal lattices as component.

Most Union production is exported to Karthanian customers and other Free and Openspace markets.

Some of it is still used as a colorant, as a food supplement for humanoids and as snack candy for Takians and Lyrhams.

Kalimun is traded at XChanges under the category Minerals. The metric ton sells for about 1500 2000 credits.

It is much more valuable outside the Union and sells for 10-15 times as much.
