The Pinwheel Galaxy (also known as Messier 101, M101 or NGC 5457) is a face-on spiral galaxy distanced 21 million light-years (six megaparsecs) away.

The Pinwheel Galaxy is connected to the local group via a large Trans Spatial Gate [1] in the Small Magellan Cloud. In structure and composition, as well as age and visual appearance it does not belong to the Ancient Gate Network, nor is it is it similar to any of the other known gates. It is permanently active.

The Pinwheel Galaxy is known to be home to two sentient species (so far). The Ence and the Lilith Stalkers.

In 5044, the Assembly agreed on Operation Force Stop and sent the largest Convoy ever [2] assembled through the gate and established the Pinwheel Stronghold Fort Force Stop.

An area of about 500 Square light years has been explored so far. Tensions between the Ence, the Lilith Stalkers and the Union are high.

Historic  Galaxy Data[]

The Pinwheel Galaxy (also known as Messier 101, M101 or NGC 5457) is a face-on spiral galaxy distanced 21 million light-years (six megaparsecs) away in the constellation Ursa Major, first discovered by Pierre Méchain on March 27, 1781, and communicated to Charles Messier who verified its position for inclusion in the Messier Catalogue as one of its final entries.

On February 28, 2006, NASA and the ESA released a very detailed image of the Pinwheel Galaxy, which was the largest and most detailed image of a galaxy by Hubble Space Telescope at the time. The image was composed from 51 individual exposures, plus some extra ground-based photos.

On August 24, 2011, a Type Ia supernova , SN 2011fe, was discovered in M101.
