Marine Corps Base Quantico, also known as MCB Quantico, is a United Stars Marine Corps installation located near Triangle, Virginia, covering nearly 450 square kilometers of southern Prince William County, Virginia, northern Stafford County, and southeastern Fauquier County. Used primarily for training purposes, MCB Quantico is known as the "Crossroads of the Marine Corps"

Historically (prior to the Terran Ascent) it included among other things, The Marine Corps Research Center at Quantico which pursued equipment research and development, especially telecommunications, for the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps Brig, a military prison, is also located at Quantico.  It also held the FBI Academy, the principal research and training facility of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the principal training facility for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are also located on the base.

Like most military bases on Earth that only hosted land forces, it was temporarily deactivated during the initial United Earth period following the deactivation of the United States Marine Corps. Since the founding of the United Earth Marine Corp, it has become one of the premier officer training facilities of initially the United Earth Marines and later of the Union Marines.

Candidates are chosen for admittance to the Marine Corps Officer Training School at Quantico, Terra as follows:

  • Up to 500 Officer candidates are selected from children of current or retired officers who were trained at MCOTS Quantico, Terra.
  • All other training slots are allocated by lottery among all applicants (including those who were not selected in "direct descendent lottery") who had not specifically requested a different location.

Note[]

  1. The training slots allocated to Admiral Stahl's recommendation that are not used in one year are allowed to accumulate for the next one. He's never acknowledged that he knows that he can recommend up to ten a year, with his average being closer to five a decade, mostly either enlisted personnel in the Steel Gauntlet who are going into the Enlisted to Officer program, or children of current or former Steel Gauntlets.
