While the Federal Police and local police units can handle the majority of the crimes that occur within the Union, on occasion there are situations that require more than what would be expected from a normal police officer.
SWAT ("Special Weapons And Tactics") is a commonly used proper name for law enforcement units, which use military-style light weapons and specialized tactics in high-risk operations that fall outside of the capabilities of regular, uniformed police.
Their duties include: confronting heavily armed criminals; performing hostage rescue and counter-terrorism operations; high risk arrests; and entering armored or barricaded buildings. Such units are often equipped with Cerberus Robots that include a SWAT Package, and Law Enforcement versions of Battle Suits. Unlike the military versions, both the robots and Law Enforcement Suits are focused on providing non lethal options to apprehend suspects and are equipped with evidence gathering devices, forensic devices and crowd control capabilities.
Many local police forces maintain SWAT teams such as Pluribus Police, but the reputation and efficency of the Federal Police SWAT is legendary.
