The Sauriens are a sentient species of bipedal, humanoid in overall appearance. Omnivores with a preference for herbivore diet.
The Sauriens appear to have developed from a saurus based primate shaped species, native to their world that is primarily , subtropical in nature and classified a GWC 3A They were known to the Pan Sarans (first contact was made by Pan Sarans around 1400 (OTT) )
They have colonized a moon in their own system but have not spread further. They joined the Union shortly after its founding and have been a core member ever since. Sauriens are peaceful in nature, do occasionally ad carrion meat to their diet (traditionally slain animal leftovers by a carnivorous life form of their planet, but now buy such meat in shops and at the XChange. Their civic system is based on herd / large family mentality which translates to family groups that own space ships, factories and real estate. The family leads, usually females gather once a year to discuss local politics and conditions. Their representative is also chosen that way and usually serves until retired or recalled. There are about 156 billion Sauriens within Union space and according to the 5030 census. Sauriens can be found primarily in service related jobs.
