Television (TV) was a telecommunication medium that is used for transmitting and receiving moving images and sound. Television could transmit images that are monochrome (black-and-white), in color or in three dimensions (poorly). The word television came from Ancient Greek τῆλε (tèle), meaning "far", and Latin visio, meaning "sight". Television also referred to a television set, television program or television transmission.
