The Union Colonist Bureau
Officially called: Bureau of Colonist Affairs
Federal Organization, headquartered at Pluribus Unum. This Federal department caters to the needs of Colonists, new Colonies and assists Settlers and migration seeking groups. BoCA works closely with the Explorer fleet branch of the Science Corps and maintains a list of worlds suitable for colonization. It provides the new Settlers with transportation to the new colony and a tailored starter package. The Starter Package is put together regarding size, needs, species and environment, but in general it contains a GalNet Terminal, Med Box, basic tools, construction equipment and food for at least 1 year. Gone are the days when Arks leave for new worlds with everything they need aboard and then left alone. Modern Union Colonies are monitored by BoCA and receive help and supplies if needed. Colonies receive a GalNet Tie in and a Space Bus Route is assigned to it. As soon as the Colony is established, a School is opened and at least one Union Teacher is sent. When the Colony grows BoCA establishes an XChange. BoCA assists with business loans to establish farms, ranches, mines, factories. BoCA coordinates with the Ranger Service for law enforcement and assists the new Colony to find a Civic suited for their needs. Of course BoCA services are free and it is the colonists who decide how much or how little help they need. The only requirement is that the new Colonies are Union Worlds. Colonists or Settlers moving into Free Space or Open Space and do not wish Union membership are not assisted by BoCA. BoCA maintains a fleet of Transport and Support Vessels coordinates with Wurgus Engineers if needed. In a recent Survey done by a GalNet Magazine, 98 % of Union Citizens found the BoCA the best and most useful Federal Organization, even before the Fleet.
