Because the dust pits being mined on Dust Camp (along with other places) acts as a non-Newtonian fluid, and may be several km deep, miners can drown in it.

As part of their protective suits, dust miners wear wide-soled low grav boots. The wide-soles spread their weight over a larger surface, while the low grav reduces their weight to the point that they are unlikely to sink as long as they keep their footing.
